Insurance underwriters are a very important part of an insurance company. They are generally the people who decide if an insurance policy is acceptable to take on risk by their company.
These underwrites can basically request any kind of information from the applicant to come to a decision about the case. It has been known that especially for insurances such as life, critical illness,, serious illness and combined life and critical illness policies an underwriter can request information such as further information from the client, this can be in writing or to be provided over the phone by the applicant(s).
It could be a financial questionnaire, further information on the applicant’s occupation or details on medical issues disclosed. They can also request further information from the applicant’s doctor or specialists. This can be a general practitioners report, a targeted report or further information following the receipt of a general practitioners report.
